Mausoleum desecration case: Request for registration of case against Maryam Nawaz rejected

KARACHI: A local court in Karachi has rejected a petition seeking registration of a case against Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz and her husband Safdar Awan for alleged violation of sanctity of Quaid’s Mausoleum.
The case of alleged desecration of Quaid’s Mausoleum was heard in the City Court on Tuesday.
The petition was filed by the Mazar-e-Quaid Management Board. The petition contended that Safdar Awan and the accompanying workers damaged the grille of the mausoleum.
The management board had requested that a case be filed against Safdar and his associates.
In Oct 2020, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had announced that the Sindh government will form a committee comprising three to five ministers to investigate the incident of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Captain (retd) Safdar’s arrest for alleged violation of sanctity of Quaid’s Mausoleum.
“Every stakeholder will be summoned to the meeting and our point of view would be presented. If I said something now it would affect the inquiry. We will hold inquiry to bring forward the truth and expose the conspiracy,” Murad Ali Shah had said while addressing a press conference in this regard.
