Maulana Abdul Aziz occupied Lal Masjid once again

The Lal Masjid in Islamabad was occupied once again by the former Khateeb, Maulana Abdul Aziz of the Lal Masjid. The mosque was occupied by around 200 people, including youth, minors and armed men.

The police have cordoned off the Lal Masjid and sent a heavy police force, while barbed wire has also been installed around the mosque. Maulana Abdul Aziz was inside the worship place.

Police officers, on condition of anonymity, told that some people entered Lal Masjid late at night, claiming to belong to Rojhan. After getting information police reached there and asked them to leave the place, to which they agreed.

More than 200 people, under the leadership of Maulana Abdul Aziz, left for the mosque from Abpara area of Islamabad.

As soon as the information was received, the police of the area once again reached the spot and asked Maulana Abdul Aziz to leave the area instead of creating unpleasant situations here.

The Station House Officer (SHO) and other police officers tried to stop the people but failed to evict them from the mosque premises, some of these influential people were armed with SMGs.

A group of influential people told the police that they had come here to occupy the mosque, later the influential people entered the mosque and the armed group stood at the main gate of the mosque, the police officer said.

After a few hours, the concerned authorities sent additional personnel outside the mosque to avoid an unpleasant situation.

After the arrival of the police force in the area, the mosque has been cordoned off while the head of Police Public Relations Branch, Owais Ahmed, has refused to discuss the matter.
