Maryam says resigning from SAPM’s post not enough for Asim Bajwa
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Friday said that sooner or later Chairman China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Lt Gen (retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa would have to appear before the court.
“If PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif can make appearances for hundreds of times with his daughter in a fake case then why can’t Asim Bajwa,” Maryam asked while talking with media persons in Lahore, at a protest of students of south Punjab and Balochistan demanding restoration of their quota and scholarship.
She said resigning from the post of special assistant to prime minister (SAPM) will not be enough. She asked why he wanted immunity from appearing before the court. You will have to respond to the nation sooner or later, she said.
The PML-N vice president said Asim Bajwa was being questioned about his family’s billions of rupees assets.
She said the the Karachi incident has shown that there was state above state. She reiterated that she never believed that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was behind arrest of his husband captain (retd) Safdar by violating sanctity of his privacy in the wee hours.
Maryam said she could see falling down of the government even before January 2021. Directing towards Prime Minister Imran Khan, she said he was accountable to the nation.
She said it was a fight between giants and Imran was nowhere in the political scenario.
Maryam Safdar also said that PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif was kept in jail not for corruption but for not going against his brother.
She said the circumstances and incidents had established that if a verdict was wrong its effects came to appear before masses.
