Maryam Nawaz sent back to home as PML-N workers hold violent protests before NAB office

LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) workers held violent protests outside Lahore office of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) as Maryam Nawaz was presented before the accountability watchdog.
The NAB cancelled hearing of the case and sent daughter of the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif back to home as situation before its office got tense after PML-N workers hurled stones at officials leaving one NAB official and several police officials injured.
PML-N leaders claimed that their activists were also injured. They claimed that police started pelting stones at Maryam’s vehicle first.
Maryam Nawaz was summoned for an inquiry into the alleged illegal purchase of 200 kanal land. Strict security arrangements were made on this occasion.
In 2013, 200 Kanal of land was transferred to Maryam Nawaz in Raiwind, while 100 Kanals of land was transferred to Shahbaz Sharif and 100 Kanals to Nawaz Sharif. Lahore Development Authority rules were reportedly ignored in the land transfers.
Sources said that Maryam came to NAB office along hoodlums. As soon as motorcade of the suspect arrived, the PML-N workers started violence.
