RAWALPINDI: The 49th martyrdom anniversary of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider is being observed on Saturday (today).
He was born on 4 April 1938 in a small village named Dinga near Kharian Cantt. He commissioned in Pakistan Army’s Frontier Force on Oct 13, 1963 and he was posted in East Pakistan in 1968.
When the Indo-Pak war broke out in 1971, Major Muhammad Akram took command of a company of the Four Frontier Force Regiment in the Hilli District on the front lines and made the enemy suffer.
Pakistan Army has paid rich tribute to Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider for his supreme sacrifice and displaying valour against all odds.
Director General Inter Services Public Relations Major General Babar Iftikhar in a tweet said Major Akram heroically repulsed innumerable attacks by enemy inflicting heavy losses in battle of Hilli.
“Such exemplary courage is hallmark of defenders of motherland,” he added.
