Mariyam Nafees shares why she attended Lux Style Awards
After Osman Khalid Butt, actress Mariyam Nafees who also stood in solidarity with Aliza Sultan addressed the backlash she is receiving after attending LSA.
Mariyam, who had previously called for action against Feroze Khan for allegedly abusing his former wife, Aliza Sultan, was questioned for attending the 21st edition of Lux Style Awards.
The actress addressed the backlash and wrote, “I refuse my activism be called into question because ‘Did you see me interview any abuser or harasser? Did you see me in the same frame as them? Did you see me cheer for them?’ I did not and do not endorse any of those things I am being accused of. My stance does not and will not change”.
“I was there to do my job. I have always gone above and beyond to raise my voice against harassment and abuse. You will always – ALWAYS – find me standing by the victims”, Mariyam concluded.
Before Nafees, Osman Khalid Butt who is also very vocal about social issues like women’s rights, domestic violence and freedom of speech cleared his stance amid a backlash by stating, “I was assured that Feroze [Khan] wouldn’t be present at LSA”.
