MARDAN: A student of Mardan has won international film festival award for his documentary on a man’s fight for getting possession of inheritance of her mother from her family.
The student of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan’s Mass Communication department, Muhammed Waseem won the title by beating 40 contestants from different countries. ‘Girls Impact the World Film Festival 2020’ was organized by ConnectHer in association with other organizations.
Award for Waseem and his team’s about six minutes long documentary ‘Chain Breaker’ was formally announced on Apr 18. Story of the documentary revolves around a person named Sameer Khan, who has started fighting the case of right of possession of inheritance by her mother, which has been by the woman’s family. Due to this feud, they had broken up relationship with several of their family members.
Waseem said the award would prove to be a milestone for his career. “When you get recognition at international level, it serves as oxygen in your progress,” he said He relayed that that the video was shot by a simple handicam. He said in such competitions, video quality was not given preference, rather the concept was more important.
