PESHAWAR: Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) chief Manzoor Pashteen has given a worldwide protest call against arrest of Member of National Assembly from South Waziristan, Ali Wazir, in Peshawar.
In his response over the arrest, he announced that Pashtoons all over the world will hold protests against Ali Wazir’s arrest. He also demanded from the Sindh government to withdraw the FIR against Ali Wazir.
“On Friday, protests should be held wherever Pashtoons are living. A rally will be carried out on Dec 20 in Jani Khel and Bannu. On Dec 27, next phase of protests would be announced after a public gathering in Khyber district,” he said in a statement.
He said that a legal team had been constituted against the arrest.
A day ago, handcuffed Ali Wazir was produced before the court in Peshawar. On this occasion, while informally talking to media, he had said that they would be ready for death until the oppressors were held accountable.
He was arrested by Peshawar police on request of Sindh police in a case related to hate speech that was filed in Karachi against him, Manzoor Pashteen and Mohsin Dawar. The case was registered against them on Dec 7, a day after they addressed a rally at Sohrab Goth in Karachi.
