Man shot dead after Loralai police attack was innocent: officials

The police shot dead a man accused of being a suspect in the Loralai explosion has now been declared innocent.

On September 30, police personnel were attacked by two motorcyclists upon being stopped on Lorelai’s Quetta Road. Both tried to flee. One of the two men was wearing an explosive vest that he detonated. A police officer was killed and three were injured.

The police said that the motorcyclists opened fire at them. The second motorcyclist, recognized as Zahid Khan, was shot and killed.

On Wednesday, Loralai’s deputy commissioner, Kashif Nabi, claimed that the police have found that Khan was innocent. SHO Abdul Rehman Loni said that Khan was an employee of NADRA. The police had mistaken him for a terrorist and had shot him dead. The deputy commissioner has declared him a martyr.
