Mushtaq Ahmed Wani dug a grave for his 16-year-old deceased son, who was martyred by Indian occupational forces in a staged encounter in held-Kashmir.

People started gathering around him at the graveyard as he demanded from the Indian authorities to return the body of his son so that he could bury him properly. People shouted slogans demanding justice for the families of those people who were extrajudicially murdered by the occupational forces.

Indian forces shot the boy, Athar Mushtaq, along two other youth in the suburban area of Srinagar alleging that they were aiders of terrorists. They have been laid down in graves about 115 kilometers away from their villages.

The Indian government had introduced a new policy in 2020, under which Kashmiris, who were alleged to be militants, were buried in unmarked graves at isolated places, denying their families a right to proper funeral.
