Lynching trial of Priyantha Kumara to commence next week
The investigation has been concluded, according to Punjab police, and the case challan has been handed to the prosecution. More than 80 males have been identified by the help of CCTV footage.
Over blasphemy claims, Priyantha, a factory manager at Rajco Industries in Sialkot, was killed and his body set on fire by workers.
The police had collected up over 200 persons for questioning after the incident was reported. Investigators analysed CCTV and phone videos and found no credible evidence against them, therefore the majority of them were released.
The case has been pursued by a three-member special prosecution team lead by Special Prosecutor General Abdur Rauf Watto. The prosecution team has been asked by the government to provide a daily progress report on the case to the Prosecutor General of Punjab.
