Lockdown has to be gradually lifted now: PM Imran

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said the biggest problems in the country were prevailing because of lockdown.

“Daily wagers and low-income segment of society are the worst affected because of the lockdown. We have to gradually lift the lockdown from the country now. Lifting of lockdown will provide employments to masses,” PM Imran said while addressing media in Islamabad.

He said standard operating procedure would be formulated for opening lockdown, however the coronavirus would spread fast if people did not adopt the SoPs.

The prime minister said the administration could not do anything alone. Tiger Force members can point out about hoarding to the local administration, he maintained. He said coronavirus was a challenge for Pakistan just like the world. Communication server of Tiger Force has been established at Prime Minister’s Office.

He said the basic job of the Tiger Force was not to collect money but to work as volunteer.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Dr Zafar Mirza said even the policy of smart lockdown could not go on unchanged. We would have to change it by the time, he added.

He said 17,000 of the Tiger Force members were healthcare professionals and 1800 of them were MBBS doctors only.
