MIRPUR (AJK): On Tuesday, the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir agreed to intensify the lockdown further while taking stringent steps to monitor the gatherings at weddings and funeral congregations.
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting in the state metropolis on Tuesday chaired by Chief Secretary Mathar Niaz Rana.
The meeting discussed the implementation status of government policies, the measures taken to monitor the spread of COVID-19 and the potential strategy to that end.
The meeting also agreed to retain all foreign-returned persons in the state in quarantine centers for a stipulated stay and called on those to quarantine themselves voluntarily.
It appealed to the general public to limit their outdoor activities and follow the social distance strictly.
Secretary Food apprised the meeting pertaining to the state’s availability of edibles.
The Chief Secretary has ordered Secretary Food daily to furnish the draft.
Meeting was said to have developed functional coronavirus test laboratories in Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, and Rawalakot.
Chief Secretary Mathar Niaz Rana called on the masses to extend all cooperation to government, health, local government and other government institutions in order to deal effectively with the prevailing situation.
He said that the government is taking every possible step to ensure the protection of people’s lives from this deadly virus.
The Chief Secretary reiterated the public’s appeal to take all necessary precautionary steps to ensure their lives are secure.
Mathar Niaz Rana expressed his gratitude to the media for running a successful awareness campaign against coronavirus.
