Locals shoot leopard dead after attack on residents in Swat

SWAT: Locals hunted a leopard while another managed to escape Tuesday after three Fazal Banda village residents were wounded by the pair in Swat’s Matta Tehsil.
The animals have reportedly invaded the village in search of food in the nearby hilly areas following heavy snowfall.
The leopards threatened the residents and wounded three people according to locals, after which they felt impelled to open fire on the wild animals.
One of the two wild cats was killed while the other fled to Upper Dir in the Nahag Dara jungle, they said.
Locals have also shared their photographs on social media with the killed animal.
The incident has been reported by Matta Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Shoukat Ali.
Scientists believe that wild animals, in search of food, find their way into the human population because of habitat destruction and shortage of food.
In the recent past, similar incidents have also occurred in Abbottabad, Manshehra, Darra Adam Khel and other hilly regions of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) province.
