LHC dismissed plea seeking recovery of Fawad Chaudhry

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed the petition filed by PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry’s cousin, Nabeel Shehzad, for the “recovery” of the former federal minister.
Justice Saleem Tariq Sheikh remarked that the petition was admissible earlier but ‘not now’ as Fawad Chaudhry has been produced in the Islamabad court.
While ignoring the orders of Lahore High Court, police brought PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry to Islamabad court.
Earlier today, The LHC had ordered police to present Fawad before it by 1:30 pm but the government’s lawyer told the court that the motorcade transporting Fawad has left for Islamabad.
At this the court ordered to “bring him back even if he is taken to Islamabad.”
Later, the LHC has summoned the Inspector Generals (IGs) of Islamabad and Punjab police at 6pm today after the authorities failed to present Fawad Chaudhry before it.
On the other hand, Lahore’s local court has approved the ‘transitory remand’ of PTI leader and allowed the police to take former federal minister to Islamabad.
Chaudhry was arrested outside his residence in Lahore in the early hours of Wednesday for ‘threatening’ Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members.
Earlier a day, in his speech outside Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore, Fawad warned the ECP, its members and their families, according to the FIR.
The FIR states that Chaudhary said that the status of the election commission was reduced to that of a “Munshi [clerk]”.
Fawad said that those who become part of the caretaker government will be pursued until they are punished. He added that the people sitting in the government would be pursued to their houses.
