The Lahore High Court on Wednesday has approved pre-arrest bail for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz till April 12 as she has been summoned by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in two case on March 26.
Earlier today, the PML-N leader had approached the Lahore High Court to seek interim bail before her expected arrest in the NAB cases.
According to Maryam’s counsel, Azam Nazeer Tarar, the NAB has a tradition of arresting people by inviting them to appear.
Furthermore, the court held an urgent hearing of the case today as the PML-N leader appealed to be granted pre-arrest bail. She feared that the NAB would arrest her due to “pressure” from the government.
The NAB has summoned Maryam in two inquiries — Chaudhry Sugar Mills and Raiwind [Jati Umra] land cases — on March 26.
