Legislation to be introduced to control land use and buildings in KPK

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government has introduced the Land Use and Building Control Act 2021 in the House for controlling land use and buildings in the province. There may be various fines and imprisonment for violating various provisions.
Following the legislation under the bill, a Provincial Land Use and Building Control Council will be formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). There will be seventeen members in the committee.
In case of the bill passed by the Assembly, the term of the members after the formation of the Council will be three years while the term may be extended. The constituted council will be authorized to approve the policies and guidelines relating to the work of the authority, including the urban policy, physical planning, standard land use policy, guidance notices.

Council meetings shall be chaired by the Chairman and in his absence, the Vice-Chairman shall preside over such meetings. The council will meet at least twice a year.
Under the legislation, a Provincial Land Use Building Control Authority will be set up which, after approval of the Act, will establish authority through notification of the government which will be called Provincial Land Use and Building Control Authority.
