Legal notice issued against publisher for including jokes about Buneri people in textbook

ISLAMABAD: A legal notice has been issued against a book publisher for portraying Buneri people as fools in a textbook of grade five.
The book publisher, Gaba, has included stories about stupidity of Buneri people in English Story textbook. Senior journalist Aziz Buneri has filed Rs2 billion compensation notice with the help of Advocate Abbas Khan Sangeen against Gaba Publishers.
The legal notice mentions that in the story ‘Seven Foolish Men’ the people of Buner were ridiculed and made a laughingstock. It also mentions that the people of the district are audacious and honest who valiantly fought against Alexander the great, Mughal king Akbar and Sikh Shahi. Several Sufis were also born here, it said.

“In the light of the aforementioned facts, I advise you to remove the story from the book, stop its sale and publishing within a week and tender unconditional apology in the daily newspapers having vast circulation, otherwise I have definite instructions from my client to seek legal remedy from the court and also sue you for damages worth 200 million rupees against you,” reads the notice.
