Lal Masjid Shuhada Foundation files petition against Aurat March

The Shuhada Foundation of Lal Masjid has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court, seeking ban on Aurat March and legal action against its organisers.
DAWN reported that the petition was taken up by Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
“Subsequently, the judge referred the case to the IHC Chief Justice,” the report added.
The petition also asked for court’s direction to ban the organisations particularly ‘Open Society Foundation’, which were involved in the Aurat March.
Shuhada Foundation counsel Tariq Asad also requested the court to refer the matter to the Council of Islamic Ideology to examine whether the women in Pakistan are deprived of any legal right in any field.
The petition demanded an inquiry to know if Aurat March violates any of Islamic principles and provisions of the Constitution.
