In the 15th match of the Pakistan Super League 2021, Lahore Qalandars have won against Islamabad United by five wickets at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
After winning the match, Lahore Qalandars stand first in the points table while Islamabad United have dropped their position to the fourth spot from third.
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars won the toss and decided to bowl against Islamabad United.
In their innings, the United scored 143 runs while losing nine wickets in 20 overs, setting the target of 144 runs for the Qalandars to win. Faheem Ashraf remained top scorer with 27 runs in 24 balls.
From Qalandars’ side, James Faulkner took three wickets followed by two dismissals claimed by Ahmad Daniyal and Haris Rauf each. Rashid Khan and Shaheen Afridi took one wicket each.
The Qalandars finished the target in the last ball of the game for the loss of five wickets. Captain Sohail Akhtar scored 40 runs, followed by Mohammad Hafeez (29) and the winning innings of Tim David (23) and Rashid Khan (15).
In the last over, Rashid Khan smashed three consecutive fours when the chasing team required 16 runs to beat the United after fours years–last time they did in 2017.
Earlier, the PSL6 was postponed in March due to growing Covid-19 concerns in Pakistan. It was later rescheduled in United Arab Emirates which resumed on Wednesday (today).
The teams will once again face each other for their second group stage match on June 13.
