KARACHI: Quetta Gladiators coach and former wicket-keeper captain Moin Khan has said that the Lahore Qalandars will have to work harder than they did in the previous leagues to bag the top spot in the upcoming Pakistan Super League-5.
He said this while discussing the team during the event ‘Cricket Comes Home’ organized by Dialogue Pakistan and moderated by Express TV host Mirza Iqbal Baig. Head of Dawn’s sports page, Rishad Mahmood, and veteran sports journalist and TV anchor Waheed Khan were also present on this occasion.
He further explained that the world has already seen where they stand since the last four PSL seasons.
“They are going to have work very hard. The combination is, no doubt, very good. Every year, they make a good team but the combination falls short. The reason is that the selection process has too much inconsistency,” he said.
Cricket is not about giving chances. At this level, you have to make a strong team. You have to stick with your best players. And if that does not happen, they will lose confidence.
“But there are, however, strong players on the team. We shouldn’t take them lightly,” the cricket coach added.
The opening ceremony of the Pakistan Super League will be held at the National Stadium in Karachi on February 20, while the final is scheduled for March 22 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host the highest number of matches. The schedule has been finalized for all matches with the Punjab government’s senior government officials in consultation on all matters including security.
Measures have been taken to ensure the safety of foreign players participating in the event.
