Lahore Police arrested two suspects for ‘raping’ mentally challenged girl
Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested 2 suspects involved in rape of a mentally challenged girl in Sherakot area of Lahore.
A resident of Talat Park area of Babu Sabu told the police in a complaint that his 14-year-old daughter, who is mentally challenged and suffering from hearing and speech impairment, was sitting outside her house on Thursday evening when her brother-in-law took her to a nearby house.
The complainant said that, the accused and the owner of the house raped her daughter and were also hurling threats for lodging complaint.
On the complaint of the father, Sherakot police registered a case of rape and started investigation.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pervez Elahi and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Faisal Shahkar took notice of the incident.
The IG directed the DIG Investigation Lahore to investigate the incident.
After that, the police team conducted raids in different areas of the city and arrested two accused from Saggian late on Friday night.
Notably, in December last year, the Ministry of Human Rights revealed in the report submitted to the National Assembly that more than 14 thousand women were raped in Pakistan in the last 4 years.
