Lahore Man arrested for using dead body preservation chemicals in Milk

Punjab Food Authority (PFA) raided a milk unit located on Kasur Road in Lahore and arrested a man for using chemicals used in preservation of dead bodies. Police nominated seven others in the FIR.
The PFA revealed that the citizens of Lahore were given “white poison” in the name of milk. The food authority recovered 12,600 litres of milk and 32 litres of oil and chemicals.
On the complaint of PFA, a case was registered against seven and one was arrested for violating the Punjab Food Authority Act, 2011 (An Act to provide for the safety and standards of food).
According to Punjab Food Authority, 20,000 litres of hazardous milk was supplied daily from this unit.
DG Punjab Food Authority Mudassar Riaz Malik said that, white solution can cause diseases like cancer.
“No one can be allowed to play with human health,” he warned.
What is White Solution and which white solution used in preservation of food?
A basic white solution used in the preservation and making of food item is formalin. Formalin is a form of formaldehyde, which is carcinogenic to humans. It is a disinfectant which is widely used in mortuaries to preserve dead bodies and also in science labs to preserve specimens of dead animals.
