Lahore-Gujranwala shuttle train to start on Feb 24: railways minister
LAHORE: Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad on Saturday said Prime Minister Imran Khan was trying hard to steer the country out of crisis.
Addressing a news conference at Railways Headquarter in Lahore, the minister said that Lahore-Gujranwala shuttle train will be run from Feb 24. He said, “We are making arrangements for proper parking of vehicles on railway station.”
He said the railways department would charge less parking fees so that people could easily travel between the two cities. He said that new technology was being introduced in Pakistan Railways to provide better facilities to passengers.
To a query, Sheikh Rasheed said he did not support lodging a case against Jamiat Ulema e Islam-F chief Maulana Fazl –ur Rehman under Article 6. Article 6 might be applied on him but he would prefer his arrest rather than treason charges, he said.
To another query, he said 50-feet land along the railway tracks belonged to Pakistan Railways and every inch of it would be recovered.
