Kumail Nanjiani rocked Pakistani designer sherwani at the premiere of Eternals

Kumail Nanjiani, Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Pakistani actor, stood out on the red carpet in a purple sherwani at the Eternals premiere in Los Angeles.
Umar Sayeed designed Kumail’s paisley-patterned sherwani, and the traditional attire quickly became the talk of the town once photographs from the event were released. Kumail remarked that he has always wanted to wear a sherwani because it looks “awesome” and reminds him of his own superhero Kingo’s suit in the film.
The actor requested that his mother, Shabana, assist him in locating a designer in Pakistan who could prepare an attire for the occasion.
Kumail remarked, “And I wanted to use a designer in Pakistan, not just a Pakistani designer in the U.S. So I called my mom, she gave me names of three amazing designers in Pakistan.”
Kumail and his stylist Jeanne Yang reached Umar on Instagram and gave him images of Kumail’s appearance in the film for inspiration. Umar subsequently posted images of Kumail from the premiere on his Instagram stories, thanking the actor for wearing his design.
He referred to Chloe Zhao, the director, as one of the finest filmmakers.
Kumail states that he was cast as Kingo in 2018 and revealed his stunning physical change for the character in December 2019. He expressed gratitude to Marvel Studios for recruiting the best trainers and dietitians to assist him with his appearance.
The film will be released on November 5, 2021.
