KPK govt issues policy to provide discounted price on flour

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formulated a policy to provide flour to people at discounted rates.
Policy guidelines have been issued to all the Deputy Commissioners, Divisional Assistant Directors Food and other concerned authorities to provide 20kg flour bag to the people for Rs 808.
According to the policy document, all flour mill owners are directed to withdraw 12% bran from state wheat and provide Rs 786 per bag of flour to district-approved flour dealers. The instructions to provide discounted flour in lieu of wheat quota has been provided by government to all the flour mills.
The District Food Controllers/Ration Controllers of all districts will have to provide a list of licensed holder flour dealers from every tehsil to the concerned Deputy Commissioner for approval.
The government has also directed the food department to obtain flour samples at least once a week to check official flour quality. District administration has directed all approved flour dealers to distribute a number of Panaflex (which contain official flour prices and other necessary information) at shops.
All the necessary information regarding the names, addresses and allotments of floor mills approved for public awareness will be provided through the media.
In case of absence of flour, citizens will be able to file a complaint on the concerned deputy commissioner, district food controller and other related forums, according to the policy document.
