Peshawar: Chief minister Peshawar, Mahmood Khan has issued directives to withdraw notification by the education department declaring burqa a must for government school girls.
All the heads of government-run girls schools were directed to “instruct all the students to use Gown/Abaya or Chadar to veil/conceal/cover up”, according to the first notification issued.

However, KP Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai said the provincial government has instructed the officials, who had issued the notification, to withdraw it.
“Covering yourself is a religious obligation and part of the culture, but it cannot be implemented forcefully,” the minister said.
