KP successfully mandates Pakistan’s first pool testing lab
Health and Finance Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) announced that the province has conducted 1146 coronavirus studies, which is the highest number to date.
In his Friday tweet, the minister said on Thursday the province had performed 1146 tests. He further said the bulk of the experiments were carried out by Khyber Medical University (KMU).
Breaking down the total number of tests carried out in the province, Jhagra said KMU conducted 902 tests, 106 tests were conducted in other KP public sector laboratories and 104 tests were conducted in private sector laboratories.
In another tweet, the minister declared that the research lab at KMU is now allowed to do pool tests after having successfully conducted 27 tests on pool research, with 100 percent congruence.
“Suited for large groups with low prevalence rates; theoretically increasing capacity to test by 3-5x. Fantastic job,” Jhagra said.
