PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Monday granted first magisterial powers to all the assistant commissioners and additional assistant commissioners across the province to make the lockdown more effective.

The powers have been delegated under Disaster Management and Public Health (Act). The notification issued in this regard reads that the ACs would have the authority to give any punishment under the laws, while deputy commissioners would set a limitation of usage of the authority by the officers.

The decision has been made in a bid to control spread of coronavirus.
