PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Farman on Friday “rescued” a girl from a police station where she stayed overnight on a criminal offence.
When the governor came to know about the girl’s arrest and detention at a male police station, he arrived right away at Faqeerabad police station and directed the security officials to release the girl on bail. He said it was not appropriate to detain a girl overnight.
Later details of the incident unfolded against the suspect who was arrested by police. She allegedly tortured a lady health worker and detained her at her home when she arrived to administer polio drops to children. The girl also threatened the health worker to kill her with a sharp knife.
However, police took timely action and rescued the woman from the family. Police arrested the girl and her father.
