PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has issued a total of 34,764 notices during 84,808 inspections as of 2019.
2,433,120kg of hazardous health goods were destroyed during these inspections.
96.245 million fines were imposed on food safety violations, that included licensing fees of 70.210 million. 2,523 food items were sealed in violation of food safety standards. During various inspections, a total of 11,685 samples of food items were taken.
Moreover, 41 of 103 indoor food businesses have been opened so far. Hazardous health milk was found and one lakh liters of it was destroyed after mixing.
More than 31,000 kilograms of hazardous meat was disposed. Thirty-four ounces, forty-three juices and 67 poultry shops were sealed for violating food safety standards.
Nearly 600 canteens located inside educational institutions have also been inspected and 42228 food items have been registered.
Special action has been taken to ensure proper monitoring and inspection of food in the region:
1: Introduction of Field Operations and Inspection System for Web and Mobile Based Record keeping of Placements and Inspections.
2: Introduction of web based reporting system to examine court cases.
3: Introduction of online system of inspections through microscience or geotagging, which will provide inspection images and placement that will monitor and enhance the food business.
4: The performance of teams through the Food Authority Performance Evolution System is evaluated every month, which introduces introduction and warning notices to various field officers.
