KP-CTA organize visit to historic Takhtbhai Buddhist Complex

KHYBERPAKHTUNKHWA: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KP-CTA) has arranged a trip for the families to the historic Takhtbhai Buddhist Complex.
Men, women and children, visited the famous Buddhist archaeological site in Takhtbhai located in Mardan, and praised the organisers for arranging the visit.


The visitors were briefed on the religious, cultural and archaeological sites, heritage and history of Buddhist monastery in Takhtbhai,
The trip was aimed at highlighting the culture, history, archaeology, scenic and heritage sites to attract domestic and foreign tourists, students, teachers and families to these marvelous destinations.
According to the visitors, it was very useful as they learned a lot during the visit to the historic and archaeological site.


Takhtbhai Archaeological Complex is the mega Buddhism heritage site in Mardan district.The Buddhist monastery dates back to 1st century CE. It has been listed as a Unesco world heritage site and is one of the world’s most well-preserved Buddhist heritage structures.
The site is considered among the most imposing relics of Buddhism in all of Gandhara and has been exceptionally well-preserved.
Takhtbhai was listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1980.
