Kotwals deputed to revive old culture of Lahore

LAHORE: The Walled City of Lahore Authority has deputed Kotwals in a bid to revive the lost culture of Lahore.
Pictures of two Kotwals posted at Lahore’s Delhi Gate have also been released. They can be seen standing in front of the gate and chatting with a sikh and shopkeeper in a bazaar nearby.
Wielding fat baton in one hand and wearing khaki uniform with turban and knee-high pants the Kotwals will greet you now in the streets near the Delhi Gate.
They seem not to have any legal power as they are in essence posted just for a symbolic gesture of reviving old history.

Kotwals used to control the fort of a major town or an area on behalf of another ruler during medieval India.
