Killer of university professor arrested in Karachi

KARACHI: Karachi police on Saturday arrested the suspect who murdered a private university professor, in less than 24 hours of the incident.
According to details, director of Usman Institute of Technology Syed Zahir Ali Shah was killed near the Karachi National Stadium on Friday evening, following which the East Police arrested the accused in less than 24 hours.
According to SP Gulshan Maroof Usman, three suspects including the killer had been arrested on a tip-off. The third suspect who has been arrested is a facilitator in the incident as he provided pistols to the suspects on rent.
Marood Usman said the arrested suspects were intoxicated while they were committing the robbery. They shot and killed the professor as he resisted to the robbery.
SP Gulshan said that the suspect had disclosed about his involvement in 22 other incidents during the interrogation while facilitator Zakir used to take 50 percent share of each incident.
Police said that the suspect Rustam Pathan had opened the fire and Ibrahim Bengali was driving the bike, while Zakir had served jail term earlier as well.
