KARACHI: Karachi Police Chief Ghulam Nabi Memon on Monday said that the key suspect in Geo News journalist Wali Khan Babar case was arrested in a joint operation carried out by police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
“Zeeshan alias Shani opened direct fire on Wali Babar on Jan 13, 2011 in Liaquatabad,” Ghulam Nabi Memon said while addressing a press conference in Karachi.
He said the suspect murdered him with the help of his accomplices. Shani has killed four people including the crime reporter, he said. Eight suspects were nominated in the case and four of them were arrested by 2015, he maintained. “The suspect was arrested with the help of the FIA,” he said.
The Karachi police chief said infamous Muttahida Qaumi Movement worker Faisal Mota was the mastermind of the murder. He said one of the suspects Liaqat Ali was killed one year later of the incident.
The murderer said that he killed Wali Babar because he worked for the Awami National Party (ANP), he said.
