‘Kashmir runs in our blood,’ says Asif Ghafoor

RAWALPINDI: Using his personal Twitter account, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Maj General Asif Ghafoor on Saturday said no weapon could suppress the determination of Kashmiris to get their right of self-determination.

“Kashmir runs in our blood. Indigenous political freedom struggle of brave Kashmiris shall succeed, In sha Allah!” he wrote, as the tension is escalating across the border after India issued an unprecedented order asking tourists and Hindu pilgrims to vacate the valley.

India last week sent 10,000 more troops to Kashmir and is going to deploy over 28,000 additional paramilitary troops in the territory to suppress the ongoing freedom movement.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had in a recent statement expressed reservations that the human rights situation of Indian occupied Kashmir was exacerbating.

It is pertinent here to mention that in violation of the Geneva Convention, India recently targeted Pakistani citizens with cluster bomb, which is prohibited by the international community rules.

Media wing of the armed forces, the ISPR on Saturday revealed that India used cluster toy bomb to target civilian population in Jhelum Valley on July 30 and 31.

“Two civilians including a four-year-old kid were martyred and 11 others wounded from the cluster bombs,” said the ISPR.

The ISPR said the blatant Indian aggression against all international norms exposed true character of the Indian Army and their moral standing. It urged the international community to take notice of this Indian blatant violation of international laws on use of cluster ammunition targeting innocent citizens.
