Kashmir avalanche death toll rises to 67, Balochistan to 25
The death toll in the Kashmir avalanche has increased to 67. Several houses and shops have been destroyed in multiple landslides that hit Neelum Valley on Tuesday.
10 deaths out of these were reported on Monday after a snowstorm hit the valley in Azad and Kashmir.
Some people are still missing and several roads to the valley have been blocked due to the heavy snowfall. Due to this, the rescue teams are unable to reach the avalanche sites.
People residing in the area are working to rescue the those trapped inside the debris.
Forty-two people were injured and 47 houses had been destroyed in the avalanche. Seventy-eight other houses were affected, while seven cars, three motorcycles, and a mosque had been damaged.
The snowstorm also disrupted communications and power supply networks.
Pakistan Army, Rescue 1122 and SDMA teams face difficulties operating due to the poor road conditions. A helicopter from the Pakistan Army has airlifted about 10 people to Muzzaffarabad hospital.
