Karachiites slam SSGC for unannounced gas load-shedding

Even though the federal government had planned 16-hour gas load-shedding, almost every locality in Karachi has been facing very low pressure or no supply at all even during available hours.
The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced that under a new load management plan, gas will be supplied to consumers in Sindh from 6-9am, 12-2pm, and 6-9pm, for a total of eight hours.
However, complaints of non-availability of gas during the hours announced by the company continued to be received in many areas.
Residents of Baldia Town, Nazimabad, Korangi, Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Gulshan-e-Iqbal and other areas of Karachi were complaining of gas cut or low pressure.
On the other hand, the price of liquefied petroleum gas has also shot up. The rate for refilling 11.5kg LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs130/kg. The domestic use LPG cylinder was presently available for around Rs2,000.
Due to the gas crisis, the prices of wood and coal are also expected to rise in the upcoming days.
