Karachiites likely to get relief of up to Rs7.83 in electricity bills

Karachiites are likely to get relief of up to Rs7.83 in electricity bills as Karachi Electric (KE) has submitted application to NEPRA regarding quarterly fuel adjustment from July to September.
KE has filed an application for a reduction of Rs7.83 in the July-September quarterly adjustment, while a reduction of Rs1.88 been requested in the monthly fuel cost adjustment of October.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hear the applications of KE on November 30.
After the cut in prices, the consumers will get a relief of Rs3.157 billion in monthly fuel cost adjustment.
On the other hand, Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has requested NEPRA to increase the price of electricity by Rs0.24 per unit in monthly FCA of October.
According to CPPA officials, Rs10.37 billion units of electricity were generated in October while the production cost was Rs9.14 per unit.
Out of this, 29.37% of electricity was generated from water, 15.47% from coal, 17.22% of electricity was generated from domestic gas and 12.12% from imported LNG.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hear the application of CPPA on November 29.
