According to Karachi police, the director of Usman Institute of Technology Syed Zahir Ali Shah has been shot to death in a carjacking incident on Friday.
Sonia Shehzad, the university’s spokesperson, said that Shah was going back to his home from the university when the robbers tried to stop him near Aga Khan University Hospital, SAMMA reported.
A police official has confirmed that the armed bike riders shot Shah for resisting a car snatching attempt. Shah was shifted to a private hospital after receiving bullet in his shoulder where he breathed his last.
“We are also gathering CCTV footage of the crime scene to identify the suspects involved in this murder,” the police officer told SAMMA.
Karachi has been witnessing a surge in the incidents of snatching and robbery for the last several years.
