The Dawat-e-Hadiyah trust, which is managed by the Bohra community in Karachi, has donated Rs20 million to the Sindh government’s Emergency Corona Fund.
Sindh Government spokeswoman Murtaza Wahab on Friday thanked the group in a Twitter post.
So far the provincial government has earned nearly Rs3 billion while private donors have sent the fund more than Rs60 million.
This money will be used to offer rations to poor families, particularly the daily wage workers affected by the lockdown, the government says.
As of Friday, 783 identified cases of the novel virus have been recorded in Sindh with 2,441 cases taking the national tally.
