Karachi traffic police to launch operation against violation of one-way
KARACHI: Traffic police have decided to launch an extraordinary operation against violation of one-way in Karachi from Friday.
Karachi Police Chief Ghulam Nabi Memon said this in an order. He said special checking would be conducted at more than 100 locations of the megalopolis between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
He said indiscriminate action would be taken against violators of the law and those arrested for this violation would not be released in any circumstances. A case under Section 279 would be registered against the culprit and he would be produced before the court the next day.
After Club Road, the local administration has started working on the project of making II Chundrigar Road also one-way.
Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shalwani said one by one traffic would be made one-way on other thoroughfares too. “The entire world has adopted the one-way system, therefore we should also implement it here,” he said.
He also said that the beautification of II Chundrigar Road had started swiftly, its footpath would be made walkable and issues of sewerage would be resolved on this road.
