Karachi residents are suffering from extended hours of power outages along with the unbearable heat.

Load-shedding has risen to over eight hours a day in several areas of the city. The region most affected is reportedly called District East.

Residents of areas such as Malir, Saddar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Shah Faisal Colony and Saddar experience load-shedding for as much as 12 hours a day.

They also complained that water supply in these areas has been cut off because of power outages. “How will the water motors work without electricity?” a man asked.

Due to this cause, water supply from the Dhabeji Pumping Station was also cut off, growing problems for people. They have demanded that the government resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

K-Electric had declared earlier this month that it would carry out two to three hours of load-shedding in residential areas and eight hours in industrial areas due to a shortage of furnace oil.
