KARACHI: A resident of Karachi has filed a petition at the Sindh High Court to shut down the Burns Road food street.
The hearing was held on Thursday during which the resident said, “We can’t even take our motorcycles to our homes. Why are 50,000 people being punished just so that eight to 10 hotels are able to run their businesses?”
The case was heard by a SHC bench headed by Justice Irfan Saadat who asked “What’s wrong if people are willing to dine out? Look at Lahore, the city has food streets everywhere.”
On which the petioner’s lawyer remarked that “There are hardly eight to 10 eateries. Why are 50,000 residents of the area being punished?”
According to the citizens, the implementation of new rules are causing them problems.
