Karachi reports 241 fresh dengue cases in 24 hours
At least 241 people on Monday admitted at various hospitals across Karachi due to mosquito-borne infection, dengue fever in the last 24 hours, according to the Sindh Health Department.
According to the data released by the SHD, 241 out of 341 dengue patients belong to Karachi.
On the other hand, 287 new cases of dengue have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where the highest number of 194 patients was diagnosed in Peshawar.
Another 276 people became a victim of dengue in Punjab, out of which 119 patients belong to Lahore.
Over 6,000 confirmed cases of mosquito-borne infection dengue were reported in the port city during the month of September, while most of the deaths were also reported in the same month alone.
Total 9,826 dengue fever cases reported in Sindh out of which 74 percent were recorded in September alone, according to official data.
Total of 6053 confirmed cases in Karachi division, 1980 were reported from East, followed by 1368 cases from Central District, 1112 cases from Korangi, 846 cases from South District, 369 cases were reported from Malir, 192 cases from Kemari and 186 cases from West District.
According to sources, 39 people have died due to dengue virus in the province in the last few months, out of which 36 people have died in Karachi alone, most of the deaths were reported in September.
Last year, 17 deaths were reported due to dengue in Sindh, 3 patients died in 2020, 46 in 2019, according to the data of the health department.
