Karachi police recruit two women traffic constables as riders

KARACHI : For the very first time, Karachi police have appointed two woman traffic constables as riders in the city to watch out for criminal traffic offences.
Recruiting women constables, Samavia and Razia, as traffic police riders is a step towards women empowerment and enabling ladies against the gender biased working environment in the country.
Prior to designating them as patrolling bike riders, the constables were provided special training.
Samavia has been working in District South while Razia has been performing her duty in District East of Karachi.
The Karachi Police Chief, Additional IG Ghulam Nabi Memon, praised the two lady traffic police officials and said that “the initiative was taken in accordance with the policy of Sindh Police’s women empowerment”
A year ago, Balocistan’capital Quetta had selected the first ever female traffic police sergeant, Sobia Khan.
