Karachi man arrested for killing wife over Rs300 dispute

A 21-year-old girl was murdered allegedly by her husband, who reportedly pushed her from their fourth-floor apartment balcony in the old city area on Sunday, police said.
Risala SHO Amin Solangi said that he immediately rushed to the crime scene after receiving information about the Maryam, 21, being pushed down from the building near Lady Dufferin Hospital on Chand Bibi Road.
“Neighbors told police they heard the couple arguing before the incident,” he said.
The police detained the husband, Muhammad Adil, who, according to the police, admitted during investigation that he pushed his wife from the balcony after a quarrel over some monetary dispute.
The suspect, who works as a private security guard, told the police that he had given Rs1500 to his wife at night and when he demanded back the money in the morning, the wife returned him Rs1200, which infuriated him.
The police said, after an exchange of hot words, the husband pushed his wife down from the fourth floor of the building and she died on the spot due to severe head injuries.
The body was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi to fulfil medico-legal formalities.
The deceased was the mother of a four-year-old son.
