Karachi Kings defeat Quetta Gladiators by 7 wickets

KARACHI: In the opening match of the Pakistan Super League-6, Quetta Gladiators set 122-run target against Karachi Kings.
Babar Azam was caught behind on Mohammad Hasnain’s ball in 11th over. Joe Clarke scored 46 from 23 balls before he was caught off Usman Shinwari’s ball in sixth over. While, Mohammad Hasnain sent Sharjeel Khan (4) packing in the first over.
Defending champions Karachi Kings had won the toss and elected to bowl first against Quetta Gladiators on Saturday in Karachi.
Arshad Iqbal bowled Ben Cutting (11) out in the 15th over. Azam Khan (17) was caught off Arshad Iqbal’s ball in 13th over and Chris Gayle (39) was caught by Mohammad Aamir off Daniel Christian’s ball in the ninth over.
Kings skipper Imad Wasim routed Tom Banton (5) in the first over of the match, while Aamer Yamin took scalp of Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed (7) in the third over.
Before beginning of the match, both the teams paid tribute to the three climbers, including Ali Sadpara and two foreign mountaineers, who were recently lost on K2 during a winter expedition.
The sixth edition of PSL began with a colourful ceremony at the National Stadium in Karachi.
Six teams including Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans will contest for the trophy.
A total of 34 matches will be played among these teams. 20 matches will be played in Karachi while 14 matches will be played in Lahore.
The final of PSL-6 will be played at the Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 22.
