KARACHI: First Marigold festival has been organized at Frere Hall in Karachi. Marigold is locally known as “gende ka phool”. The event kicked off on Jan 22 and will conclude on Jan 24 (Sunday).
Exclusively talking to Dialogue Pakistan, organiser of the event said that it had been quite a long time since such an event was held in Karachi, so this was a special treat for the residents of the megalopolis.
“We decided to hold Marigold festival because it is our native plant. It sends a message that when we talk about greener Karachi then we do not just talk about greenery, but colours as well,” he said.
Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed has asked the people to participate along with their families in the festival and make it a successful event. He said that the types Marigolds in large numbers were never exhibited before.
Ahmed said that different companies and organizations were also taking part in Marigold festival. He directed his sub-ordinates to provide every possible facility to the people coming into the festival.
The administrator said that yellow and golden marigolds were gifts of winter season.
