KARACHI: The local administration in Karachi has launched a crackdown against violation of COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
An assistant commissioner has sealed Imtiaz Super Market in Gulshan e Iqbal for violating the SoPs. A mobile market in Korangi No 4 area was sealed for the same reason.
On directive of Deputy Commissioner South Irshad Ali Sodhar, Assistant Commissioner Aram Bagh Dr Imran, Assistant Commissioner Civil Line Waleed Baig and Assistant Commissioner Saddar Sheerina Asad visited different areas of the district including markets, restaurants and coaching centres.
Two shops were sealed on Burns Road and Pakistan Chowk and several others were issued warnings. A shop at Badar Commercial in DHA was fined Rs10,000, while several shops in Saddar were also fined for violation of the government orders.
Warnings were given to coaching centers and two shops in Lyari’s UC-4 and 5. The local administration has requested people to adhere to the SoPs.
